Parent Toddler Program

Overview

Our parent toddler classes is designed to support and guide parents on their parenting/Montessori journey. It will be for children from 16 months - 3 years and they attend with one parent or carer.  The classes will be run on Saturdays from 9:00am - 11:00am.  It will be a calm, orderly and beautifully prepared environment where children can learn how to be independent, respectful and responsible.

Parents are offered practical advice in how to implement the Montessori principles in their homes. During the program parents will learn about the Montessori pedagogy, toilet learning,  respectful communication, praise and intrinsic motivation and more.

Our goal is to educate, empower and support parents in the Montessori method that can be transferred to the home environment. The beautifully prepared environment supports the development of self esteem, confidence, basic faith in themselves, concentration and independence. Children will also learn how to have respect for the environment and others.

The Environment

The environment was specifically set up in a home to create an intimate, warm loving atmosphere for both parents and children. The Montessori areas are split up into three rooms. The first room inside the house where your child can work with with language materials, play musical instruments, work with the practical life materials, develop and refine their fine motor skills and even cosy up on the child sized couches to look at books.  There is a large outdoor space where the children can water the plants, play in the cubby house and look at books under the shaded area.

Morning tea is available to children all morning, children are encouraged to prepare their own snack such as squeezing fresh orange juice,  slicing strawberries and chopping a banana. Around fifteen minutes before the sessions ends children are invited to sit on the mat for music time and we end the session with a goodbye song.

Allyson, mother of a 3 year old

Steph was referred to me by a fellow mum I met at a Montessori school's NIDO program. I was immediately impressed by her professionalism both on the phone and conducting her initial home visit. Steph's calm influence, firm but fair, gentle approach has created a beautiful environment in which Isaac is thriving.

Steph is the most passionate dedicated Montessori teacher I have ever met. She came to our home via friends and teacher recommendation I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to further their knowledge in Montessori and improve the implementation of the philosophy in their home or just get some advice on how to improve children focus in the home.
